During the event, 280 executive- and supervisory board members, directors, regulators, and inspectors involved in the housing sector will engage in a meaningful dialogue about the risks associated with long-serving directors and executive boards, and the importance supervisory boards as a force to challenge rigid paradigms, which may arise when a director no longer learns, holds on to his / her own beliefs, no longer tolerates contradiction and is surrounded by like-minded people.

Central to the discussion will be the eponymous report ‘Kracht en Tegenkracht’, which M&O researcher Marilieke Engbers published on this topic in commission of Autoriteit woningcorporaties is 2019.

Marilieke Engbers and other speakers at the symposium will challenge participants to speak openly about their adhesion to rigid paradigms, and will try to find answers to the questions such as: Can we still rely on the Supervisory Board as a counterforce to directors? And what can the Aw do to restore the balance?
